Resume Critique
Please refer  do's and don'ts for writing your resume.

You are now to the point where you should be ready to write your resume in final form. This is a two-step process. In this lesson, I will give you a format to use for the information for each category. This is your *rough draft*

RESUME FORMAT

OBJECTIVE
State a specific job position

SUMMARY OF QUALIFICATIONS
Four to six of your most important and relevant qualifications -- NOT skills -- personal qualifications. Use bullets to highlight.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
Skills you have gained from experience and employment. Use bullets to highlight.

*****NOTE If you have little job experience, this is where you may combine QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE: list personal qualifications and skills gained by experience and employment together. The list will be longer if you are combining these categories -- no less than 6 and no more than 10

ALTERNATIVE FORMAT

OBJECTIVE
State a specific job description

SUMMARY OF QUALIFICATIONS
same as above

RELEVANT EXPERIENCE AND EMPLOYMENT
You are combining employment and skills here. Simply write in reverse order from most recent your employment and dates and location. Under each item, state you job title or position. Under that, with bullets, list job duties or skills used in that position.

EDUCATION/TRAINING
same as above

HIGHLIGHTING TECHNIQUES: make use of some of these techniques for emphasizing specific information on your resume.

IDENTIFYING INFORMATION: Different font and size slightly from rest of resume. You might try bold print or italics.

HEADINGS: All caps and bold. Place at center of each category or off to the side -- your preference. However, if your resume is very long, it would give much more space to center headings.

INFORMATION: Use bullets in listing. DO NOT use stars or dashes or any other tacky symbols.

DATES: regular print

PLACES OF EMPLOYMENT: regular print

SCHOOLS AND COLLEGES: regular print

JOB TITLES IN EMPLOYMENT CATEGORY: regular print with italics
